Growing recommendations

Start seeds very early (in February to April depending on your dedication). Transplant leek in May and nurture the plants in the following weeks: be sure to weed and water as needed until the plants size up a bit. You can harvest as of September, but leeks tend to bulk up the most in the last few weeks before hard frosts, so it is worth the wait.

We're trialing and breeding new varieties!

This is the most challenging and thrilling part of our work.

The trialing allows us to test varieties of a same species side by side and determine which one(s) taste and perform the best.

Breeding and variety maintenance means selecting for traits that are desirable such as flavor, texture, disease resitance, earliness and hardiness, just to mention a few.
