True North Wax Bean was developed from a careful cross to produce a productive, non-brittle wax bean — unlike most mainstay production varieties, its pods don’t break at the neck during harvest. A few days earlier than standard varieties, it is a reliable producer of tender, flavorful beans. After years of selection and trialing, we are proud to offer it commercially — and the work to improve it continues!

Growing recommendations
Direct seed when average daytime temperatures reach 16°C for best results. Space seeds 2” apart, 1” deep, in rows 18” apart. Successive plantings can be made until mid-summer for a continuous harvest.

We ship throughout Canada. You can select one of two flat rate shipping options at checkout: $6 for lettermail or $23 for expedited (with Canada Post).
Alternately, you can choose to pick up your order at the farm in Farrellton, QC.
We're trialing and breeding new varieties!
This is the most challenging and thrilling part of our work.
The trialing allows us to test varieties of a same species side by side and determine which one(s) taste and perform the best.
Breeding and variety maintenance means selecting for traits that are desirable such as flavor, texture, disease resitance, earliness and hardiness, just to mention a few.
