About this variety
A very old variety, loved for its scarlet flowers and abundant beans. Beans can be harvested young and eaten fresh or more often, as a shelling bean. The beans themselves are a beautiful mottled mauve.

Growing notes
Direct seed when average daytime temperatures reach 16°C for best results. Pole beans need trellising, which is best done right after seeding.

We're trialing and breeding new varieties!
This is the most challenging and thrilling part of our work.
The trialing allows us to test varieties of a same species side by side and determine which one(s) taste and perform the best.
Breeding and variety maintenance means selecting for traits that are desirable such as flavor, texture, disease resitance, earliness and hardiness, just to mention a few.
You're one of a kind
We're a small farm and we want to deal fairly with everyone who buys from us. If your packets don't arrive, we'll send them again. If we made a mistake with your order, we'll replace it or refund it.
We'd also love to hear from you if you see something wicked cool in your garden or if you know of a variety in need of stewardship.
